A New Decade, A New Year, A New Start

SPRING TONIC
After a busy fall and Christmas season of painting and shows, I always welcome January to take time to refresh my mind and body and get a clearer vision for the upcoming year. It's a good time to clean and reorganize the studio, which seems to take me much longer than it did 10 years ago. I have also discovered I have a "thing" for good boxes. While shipping to different show all at the same time the boxes that work really well tend to get worn out, so I save boxes I think will be good ones for the next go around. All good intentions; but when clean out time came I discovered I had saved way more boxes than I needed and more than I wanted, although I had to convince myself that. But with the studio more manageable it frees me for time to think about doing taxes and start painting for the upcoming year. The show deadlines always seem to come faster than the time it takes to get ready. I am refreshed and ready to take on the challenge of preparing and wanting fresh exciting paintings to share.
First Pastel of 2020
So far this winter in Virginia has been really mild. Seeing my daffodils pop through the ground has me looking forward to spring and seeing the fresh growth and anticipated blossoms of color. I remember winters in Colorado being so much more harsh and when the rest of the lower elevations were sporting daffodils, we were sporting slush and mud in the streets and the daffodils another two months out. I miss my Colorado mountains but I don't miss all that snow. Still after weeks of a colder, barren landscape spring is a tonic for the soul.
So with these thoughts in my mind here is my first miniature for 2020.
SPRING TONIC
3 in x 4 in.
Pastel on Pastel Mat

I hope that you enjoy this little mini and it brings some tonic for your soul as well
Best Wishes,
Christine
